Hello! I hope everyone is staying safe and managing to stay sane during quarantine.
I am… hanging in there. I finished work this Friday at 11:30pm, got into bed but my mind was too awake, so I thought I would write a post about my second month of quarantine now at 1:10am…
So what have ~11 weeks of quarantine been like for me?
Well, for one, I am scared to wear non-stretchy clothing, so I have been essentially living in sweatpants. Ironically, I took advantage of all the online sales to purchase clothing in my pre-COVID size for post-COVID life… Let’s see how that plays out.
I have (inadvertently? not so inadvertently?) been ordering so much from Amazon that my doorman chuckles when I tell him, “I don’t even remember what I got” as he hands me 3-5 boxes at a time.
No, I have not baked banana bread.
I completely redid the layout of my apartment! My hours during COVID have been absolutely insane (will go into more detail below), so I invested in new furniture and equipment to maximize comfort and alleviate my back pain. So far, I am LOVING it.
Because of all the restructuring and bankruptcies that have resulted from COVID, April 2020 was the busiest month of my entire career to date – and that is saying something after two years of investment banking. I worked over 400 hours in April. Almost everyday was a 9am to 3am work day (6am on some days), and I literally tried to catch up on sleep whenever I could (the main benefit of working from home!). It was rough, but it was an amazing learning opportunity. The economic impact of the virus is so mind-boggling, and I feel very grateful to be able to gain experience advising companies in this environment.

Before I wrap up this post… I realized that my blog is now five years old! It’s so crazy that a hobby I started after my sophomore year of college is still one that I resort to in my free time, but I guess it’s not that surprising considering that I am a creature of habit. Over the past five years, I have really enjoyed sharing my journey and growth – from starting a pro bono consulting club in college to graduating to moving to NYC to starting my career… Thank you for following along all these years!
I will continue to share my journey and experiences, but I want to grow my blog to be a resource for others. If there is anything you would like for me to cover, whether it is about career, working in finance, living in NYC, fashion (really, anything!) – please do not hesitate to share your feedback here. 🙂
Thank you for your support and for following along 🙂
