Hi! My name is Phyllis Lee, an investment banker based in New York City.
I started this blog in May 2015 as an outlet to document my passions, lessons, and discoveries that have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
The blog initially focused on networking, recruiting and interview preparation for young professionals from non-target universities. As this blog evolved into a surprisingly long-term hobby, it now serves as a platform where I share my experiences and reflections as a young woman navigating life on Wall Street and in New York City.
A bit on my career journey:
I graduated with a BA in Economics from Swarthmore College and began my career as an M&A consultant. Eight months later, I transitioned into investment banking at an elite boutique investment bank in NYC, where I spent three years as a generalist across M&A and Restructuring and Recapitalization transactions in a wide range of industries.
After completing my analyst program, I moved to Los Angeles to begin my private equity career, focusing on large-cap leveraged buyouts across industrials, healthcare, and technology. I was later recruited to join a spinout fund from my first firm, where I worked on middle market buyouts and complex corporate carveouts.
After nearly four years in private equity in Los Angeles, I returned to New York City to rejoin my former boss and team from investment banking.
