23, Be Kind

The big day is here… I am 23!

October is not only my birthday month this year but it is also a one month mark of my living in Boston. This past month has brought a lot of changes: I moved to a city I had always dreamed of living in, and I started work!

Honestly, now that I am getting older, birthdays are starting to become less about celebrating my existence and more about just treating myself excessively once a year. Other than that, birthdays are really just more of a countdown to, well, getting older. Sooner or later, I’ll be stressing over a promotion at age 25… then I’ll be 28 and going through multiple rounds of blind dates, hoping to find “the one” while all my friends are getting engaged/married… then BOOM! I’ll be 30.

Over the summer, before I started working, I decided to completely devote the next 2-3 years of my life to my career. I feel that I need to dedicate 110% of myself to the beginning of my career so I can have the strong momentum needed to take my career to the desired destination. I know it will be stressful, but then again, nothing in life worth having comes easy. I know those dedicated years will be worth it. Fortunately, I don’t feel alone in my endeavor since there are so many young professionals in Boston who probably share a sentiment similar to mine.

 

Here’s to being one year older and one year wiser.

Here’s to spending the 23rd year of my life working harder than ever and taking myself and my talents to new heights.

I can do it.
